Egyptian inspired New Natural Organic Toner

In a world of ingredients that sound more at home in a science fiction film it is satisfying to find natural simple wisdom from Ancient civilisations.

The Ancient Egyptians valued health and beauty and created all sorts of concoctions in response to the dry sandy winds and hot sun. Elixers, ungents, oils and salves were brewed, blended, extracted and conjured up by royalty and slave alike.

Now we have drawn inspiration from the Ancient Egyptians to produce a truly magical hydrating mist and toner.

Egyptian Rose Hydrating Mist captures the essence of opulent trailing roses, sweet fresh geraniums with a hint of warm seductive vanilla.   [Read more →]

Update on the Natural Lip Balm

May 24th, 2009 by Sharon
Respond

You may have been wondering what happened to the new all natural lip balm as promised a few weeks ago.

Basically the ingredient from France never turned up. Communication with the company has become difficult and we have decided to reformulate without the ingredient.

Funny how things happen though because the same week we ‘wrote off’ the consignment from France we discovered another wonderful ingredient and the good news is it is from a UK company!

I’ll let you know when the new improved lip balm is available.

You know that feeling when you’ve visualised something in your mind, and after a lot of time,  work and set backs you finally see it coming together?

That is how I feel about the soon-to-be-launched Vegan-Friendly Bee-Friendly All Natural Lip Balm! What a mouthful!!

In fact that is usually how I feel about every product, and indeed the feeling I clearly remember experiencing the first day I packaged up our first Maia order.

Rice Bran Oil is obtained from the bran of the rice kernel. It is used for cooking and is said to be one of the healthiest oils available.

As a skincare ingredient Rice Bran Oil is a powerful antioxidant and contains a high level of Vitamin E as well as many nutrients, fatty acids and essential oils. My frustration, upset and sadness can be summed up by the two phrases “He Who Spins, Wins” and “A little knowldege is a Dangerous thing”.

The state of Natural Skincare Rant (Part 1)

January 15th, 2009 by Sharon
Respond

I am a little sad and disillusioned today, a little like this sad-eyed puppy.  I’ve been ‘benchmarking’; seeing what is available out there in the natural beauty world and comparing the results to our new product ideas Maia for 2009. Primarily I like to make sure I am not inadvertantly calling one of our new products something that is already in use either by any of the big mass manufacturing global conglomerates or one of the smaller artisan businesses like us!

Image provided by Pink Sherbet Photography

The reason I feel sad and disillusioned is that there seems to be an awful lot of marketing-speak, green-washing, wild irresponsible claims, empty promises and downright lies, and not enough authenticity and genuine care for the customers and natural skin care industry.
