As a direct result of a conversation on a parenting forum I am excited to launch Maia’s latest range: Super Skin-Friendly for young and sensitive skins.
All colours and scents are from natural extracts, botanicals and aromatherapy oils and are nourishing, soothing and gentle.
Super Skin-Friendly is formulated especially for children and sensitive skins with gentle natural caring ingredients that nourish, protect and soothe the skin instead of causing irritation and itchy skin.
- No Synthetic Colours
- No Synthetic Fragrances
- No SLS, SLES, sulphates
- No parabens
We don’t use any of those ingredients anyway at Maia Skin Care but many so-called natural companies do.
Often when I chat to people and they ask what I do and I mention bath products an almost icy change happens in the conversation and they say ‘Oh I can’t use anything in the bath, I think I must be too sensitive.’
I too have sensitive skin, and have always found most commercial bath products irritating as well and it is a usually due to synthetic chemicals.
Colours, strong fragrances and parabens can cause irritation and most commercial products contain an array of them.
Why? Why do so many products contain potentially irritating ingredients?
There are a number of reasons such as synthetic chemical ingredients are cheaper, more readily available, and there is more variety.
Synthetic fragrance oils are produced in a lab relatively quickly and much more cheaply than waiting for crops to grow and then extracting the precious essential oils. You can’t get natural berry fragrances and natural essential oils such as jasmine and rose are very expensive. All the colours of the rainbow can be produced synthetically as opposed to the challenge of using only natural colourings.
So I can understand why there are so many companies large and small using synthetic fragrances and colours, however the issue of irritation and sensitivity still stands.
Actually being honest with you, the issue of irritation and sensitivity still exists when using some natural essential oils. It is a myth that natural is always safer. Believe me, there are some natural oils that literally burn the skin and should be used with caution by knowledgeable and experienced aromatherapists only.(Ask me one day about my little experience with cinnamon essential oil!)
So with all of the above in mind I have chosen gentle and mild essential oils for fragrance such as chamomile, geranium, ylnag ylang and lavender, and utilised the natural colours of clays, herbal extracts and oils to produce soft natural colours.
To combat the drying effects of the bath water that can also cause irritation, itchyness and dry skin all the bath bombs and melts contain nourishing cocoa butter and coconut oil and a variety of other soothing and moisturising butters and oils.
So now you and your family can enjoy natural mini bath bombs, bath melts and even natural perfumes. Go to the Super Skin-Friendly Products Now!
