Love it or hate it, there is no getting away from Valentine's Day on February 14th. 

Over the years I have been fortunate to always receive a card from my 'Secret Valentine' in the familiar steady handwriting of my husband of nine years. Presents are a bit hit and miss though, usually we discuss it beforehand and decide we are not doing presents however I usually wake up on the day to a big box of my favourite dark mint chocolates. 

Like many couples we know we do not make a huge fuss anymore; no special candle-lit dinner, no rose petals strewn across the bed and no bubbly to carry us into the night. Usually we tuck the kids into bed and put on a dvd. 

The Bath
